Pocket legal

Privacy Policy

Effective July 30, 2026

The short version Pocket is local-first. Your library is stored on your device unless you explicitly enable Pocket+ Sync.

1. Information Pocket processes

Pocket processes the links, notes, images, documents, titles, tags, collections, and other information you choose to save. The app may also create searchable text, classifications, summaries, and source references from saved material.

2. Local storage

Your Pocket library and Pocket-managed originals are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. Local search, OCR, and supported Apple Intelligence features run on-device. Removing the app or using “Delete all Pocket data” may permanently remove this local information.

3. Public link previews

If Rich Link Previews is enabled, Pocket may contact the public website you saved or Pocket’s link-preview service to retrieve information such as a title, description, image, and readable public content. You can disable future preview requests in Settings.

4. Optional Pocket+ cloud services

If you subscribe to Pocket+ and choose to sign in, Pocket uses Supabase to provide email authentication, private storage, database sync, and server functions. Synced content is associated with your authenticated account and protected by owner-scoped access controls.

Optional hosted enrichment and source-backed answers may send selected saved text or public link content to Pocket’s server-side AI provider. Pocket requests an answer from the selected sources and validates citations before showing it. Provider credentials are never embedded in the app.

5. Purchases

Pocket+ purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Pocket receives entitlement information such as the product identifier and subscription status, but it does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

6. Data sharing

Pocket does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with service providers needed to deliver a feature you choose, to comply with law, or to protect the service and its users.

7. Retention and deletion

Limited operational records may be retained when reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or transaction records.

8. Security

Pocket uses app-private device storage, authenticated cloud requests, encrypted network transport, and owner-scoped database policies. No system can guarantee absolute security, so keep your device and Apple Account protected.

9. Children

Pocket is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as Pocket changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
